The Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, this Tuesday completely refuted the allegations of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan about the Supreme Courts involvement in poll rigging.

The PTI chief has announced a campaign which will begin from the 11th of May against the last year’s election rigging. He accused the ex-CJP and a Pakistani media house by the name of Geo, of helping the centre government of PML-N emerge victorious in the 2013 elections. Today the former chief termed Khan’s allegations as baseless, after attending a gathering held in the memory of those martyred in Islamabad F-8 Kachehri blast. “A chief justice has nothing to do with general elections. It was Election Commission of Pakistan’s duty to appoint Returning Officers to perform election duties,” answered Iftikhar Chaudhry to questions from the media. “I don’t like to comment on anyone’s senseless views,” he said.

He said a strong foundation of democracy has finally been laid in Pakistan which is not facing any threat. Earlier the PTI Chief alleged that when the now-retired chief justice made an unprecedented appearance at a lecture for returning officers before the general elections, it sent a straight signal to the TV channel, Geo, which declared the PML-N victorious when only 20 per cent of vote had been counted.

  1. There is no question that he was involved in the outcome of last years election. He returned a favor for. PMLN actions to reinstate him to the Supreme Court.
