Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, has called on a ‘long march’ or popularly known as the ‘Azadi March’ on the 14th of August. The 14th of August is also the Independence Day of Pakistan. Khan has a list of demands on his agenda which require the Prime Minister to resign and to conduct mid-term elections.

According to the former cricketer, the long march is against the government who are ruling because of a fake mandate that they replaced with the original votes casted. He has also demanded the opening of ten constituencies where there is a suirty of fraudulent votes casted against the PTI candidates. These ten constituencies include seats ruled by important members of the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). To stop the march on 14th of August, the government first sealed the two major cities of Pakistan that include Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The long march was supposed to end in Islamabad. Secondly, after Shah Mehmoods announcement to PTI supporters to starting storing petrol for their conveyance, the government stopped the transportation of petrol to petrol pumps and there is an extreme shortage of petrol.

The government has also called for an ‘All Parties Conference’ to try to find a solution to the problem and try to come on terms with PTI but the Prime Minister made it clear that no negotiations will be made with Pakistan Awami Tehreek, the party of Dr. Tahirul Qadri. The conference is still in process.
