A flood warning has been issued to 550 houses and above in Northern NSW region as the flood continues to take strength pushing more and more residents to evacuate their homes.

Due to the severe weather conditions, the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) and Public Information and Inquiry Center (PIIC) have been re-activated to assess and reduce the level of destruction and migration in the concerned areas.

According to the SES updates, more than 450 properties have been damaged in Moree. The Melhi River is expected to widen by another 7.5 meters and the water level of the river is to rise by an additional 9.5 meters by the end of the day. SES authorities are requesting residents of the red zone areas to evacuate their places within 12 -24 hours.

As of the latest statement issued by SES this morning, they have asked another 2,000 people to move out from the north western region of NSW state. The new evacuation orders have been issued for North Moree and Pallamallawa regions.

One of the SES crew members stated, “The rainfall is expected to continue at similar levels to what occurred yesterday for the remainder of today so we’re anticipating some increase in requirements for resupply needs for areas that are now becoming isolated as a result of the heavy rainfall and the increased river levels."

Analysts all over the globe are anticipating the flood to be one of the biggest in 35 years.
