According to the information department of the Police authorities, the Bruce highway in south-east Queensland has been flooded with water disrupting communication.

D’aguilar Highway at Kilcoy and the Bruce Highway south of Gympie have been announced closed after excessive floodwaters took over the roads. Unstoppable rain water is also raising the water level of Mary River to a dangerous extent. The government has also asked people in the surrounding areas of River Mary to evacuate and reach out to safer locations until further notice. The river is expected to rise another 16 meters on the Gympie side tomorrow morning.

Business in the region stands still with more than 500 people forced to live in camps until the crisis is over. Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has declared an emergency and are sending increased bunch of teams in the city to avoid casualties.

Spokesperson of Queensland Fire and Rescue Services, Rob Frei informed the media saying, “Already things are in place in the Gympie sector to make sure than an emergency response is provided to all areas, to provide Gympie and the surrounding areas with an emergency response whether they have been blocked off or not.”

As of latest, the south-eastern railway line in Queensland has also been damaged severely in multiple places due to the increased flooding.
