Today’s hearing of the case was held in the Central Local Court of Sydney with the help of audio-visual link where Peters pleaded guilty to accusations of breaking in and committing an indictable crime. He is also accused of deliberately keeping the schoolgirl, Madeline Pulver, to use her to his advantage of getting ransom money from her wealthy family.
The incident that took place on 3rd September 2011, which had made international headlines when Peters held Madeline hostage in her own house fixing a fake bomb around her neck to get money from her family. Peters was caught after much effort and with the help of FBI.
He pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him when he appeared in his jail clothing to the video-audio hearing. His lawyer, Kathy Crittenden spoke to the reporters outside and the court and informed that Peter was “profoundly sorry” to the Pulver family.
On the other side, Madeline’s father, Bill Pulver said, “We are incredibly pleased with today’s outcome. It is great comfort knowing Maddie won’t have to endure the stress and anxiety of reliving the events of that terrible night. Today’s guilty plea brings closure to a crime that remains a mystery and as random to us in our minds as it did back on August 3.”
