Parents of Elizabeth Membrey have expressed temporary disappointment over the acquittal of the accused in the murder case of their daughter but they seemed quite hopeful that their daughter will be given justice. The court announced on Saturday that the accused in the case of Membrey murder, Shane Andrew Bonds, was not proved guilty and therefore must be released of any charges regarding this particular case.

The case against the accused was filed by the parents of the victim who disappeared in 1994 from her Ringwood unit. Charges against Mr Bond were levied when an ex-housemate and several other eyewitnesses testified that they had seen Bond come home filled in blood the night Membrey had disappeared and was later discovered to be have been murdered. Some of the eyewitnesses had also claimed that Ms. Membrey was also seen fighting to a man before she went missing and they claimed that the man could be of considerable match to Mr. Bond.

After listening to all the eyewitnesses and cross examining them in the light of evidence, the court of Victoria declared announced their verdict declaring Mr. Bond free of the murder charges. The mother of the victim started to cry as the verdict was announced but later said that she has not given up hope and that she will keep fighting for justice for her daughter.
