Nick D’Arcy and Kenrick Monk, the Australian Olympic bad boy swimmers have been posing with high-powered weapons at a gun shop in California, United States. They have been cautioned by the officials after they posted inappropriate photographs on Twitter and Facebook.

The photos that were circulated on Twitter and posted on Monk’s Facebook page were ordered to remove from the social media sites by the Swimming Australia.

Swimming Australia condemned the Olympic-bound pair’s behavior in a statement, “Swimming Australia in no way condones these photos, and does not condone the posting of inappropriate content on Facebook, Twitter or any social media platform”.

The statement continued, “This is a timely reminder for athletes to more be responsible to themselves, the public with whom they engage through social media, and the reputation of the sport”. It also stated that “the athletes involved are currently returning from a training camp and competition in the US, and will be spoken to further upon their return.”

This was not the first time this pair of swimmers has been entangled in controversy. In 2008, on the night the Australian Olympic team was named, D’Archy was charged over a king-hit on a team member Simon Cowley during a fight. He later declared that he was bankrupt and was not able to pay $370,000 in damages and costs. Because of the attack, Cowley had a severe medical condition with a broken jaw, eye socket, cheekbone and his nose.

Whereas, Monk filed a fake complaint to police last year, that he was the victim of a hit and run to explain his injured arm, but in reality he broke his elbow falling off a skateboard. He later confessed that he made up a story just because he did not want to engage in the dangerous sport.
