coal miners_rescue_teamPolice has confirmed that three out of four trapped Welsh miners have been found dead in the collapsed coal mine of Gleision in Neath valley.

On Thursday, a mine collapse in Neath valley caused the four miners to get trapped 300ft underground. It was reported that there was no blockage issue rather a water issue that was tried to get drained out by the rescue team yesterday. After hours of continuous efforts, the rescuers have found the dead body of the third miner. One of the men, who have not yet been identified, was apparently just minutes from safety zone when he was overwhelmed by a tide of water as he tried to escape. He had followed the same route for escaping out of the colliery, near Cilybebyll, Pontardawe in the Swansea Valley, as two of his colleagues but failed to make it to the surface.

On Friday afternoon, police “tragically” confirmed the death of the second miner. Rescuers have not given up hope to find the others alive. Chris Margetts, from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said the first dead miner was found at the bottom of the main shaft and the second was found where he had been working. The local MP, Peter Hain, told that the mining disaster is a “terrible tragedy”. He further supported the efforts of Police and rescuers by telling that they have showed utmost care and support as they know how terrible the situation is, they are currently dealing with.
