The Mets human trafficking unit member, Detective Inspector Kevin HylandLambeth elderly couple, who alleged to kept three women against their will in a South London residence are released on bail after being investigated.

The Metropolitan police said to have witnessed the worst case of slavery they had ever seen in the U.K. as the three women believed to be living in slavery for three decades and were in “highly traumatised” condition when freed.

The Met’s human trafficking unit member, Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland has said: “Our unit deals with many cases every year but has never unearthed such a staggering example of people held against their will for their whole lifetime.”

Mr. Hyland has also added that the enslaved women had “controlled, but limited freedom” during their lives in Lambeth, but it is still unknown that to which degree they had this freedom.

Two 67-year-old people, who are not Britons, were arrested at the house early on Thursday morning in relation to an investigation into slavery and domestic servitude. However, no information had been obtained from the suspects.

Scotland Yard has told on Friday that the arrested couple had been bailed until a later date in January.

The enslaved victims had been rescued after one of the captives believed to be Irish, contacted Freedom charity – an organization that supports the victims of forced marriages. Then the charitable organization worked in collaboration with the Scotland Yard to release the women from slavery.

The head of Freedom Charity organisation, Aneeta Prem has told the couple arrested on Thursday were the heads of the family, adding that the rescued women had been “absolutely terrified” of them and felt that they were “in massive danger.”
