Today, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) advised the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) that it has completed its investigation into the cellblock incident at Ottawa Police Headquarters involving Ms. Stacy Bonds, which began November 19, 2010.

The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Ian Scott, has advised he has reasonable grounds to believe that an officer with the Ottawa Police Service committed a criminal offence in connection with the arrest and detention of Ms. Bonds on September 6, 2008.

Sgt. Steven Desjourdy is facing one charge of Sexual Assault contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada. The officer will remain assigned to administrative duties.

The Ottawa Police have now referred this file to the Ontario Provincial Police for investigation under the Police Services Act in relation to the role of sworn members involved in the cellblock incident. OPP will also investigate the role of civilian members under the Criminal Code.

  1. This is one of the nuttiest charges I have ever heard of. There wasn’t any sexual assault. A Bra WAS CUT OFF. Police officers or jail guards can’t allow females back into cells not knowing if they have anything hcomment_IDden on there person that could harm them or others. Just plain crazy.
