Teacher Robert Pickering pleads guilty to sexual assaults

A 56-year-old man previously charged in connection with historical sexual assaults was recently sentenced.

On Thursday, May 19, 2011, Robert PICKERING, 56, of Kettleby, appeared before The Honourable Justice William A. Gorewich and pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault. Mr. PICKERING received a two year conditional sentence that includes one year of house arrest and three years of probation. He also received a lifetime weapons prohibition, has been ordered to provide a mandatory DNA sample and will be listed on the Sex Offender Registry for a period of 20 years. For the term of his probation, Pickering is not to attend at any daycare centre, school ground, community centre or public swimming area where children under the age of 16 are likely to be.

On Thursday, December 9, 2010, police charged Mr. PICKERING with sexual offences against two victims that occurred between 1985 and 1992 while Mr. PICKERING was employed at the Toronto Waldorf School located in the City of Vaughan. Both victims were 17 years old when the alleged offences occurred.
