On Friday night approximately 5,000 people attended Central City Plaza to watch the Vancouver Canucks win Game 5, while an additional 6,500 people came to Scott Road and 72nd Avenue to celebrate. Tonight for Game 6, the crowd size is expected to be even larger.
Police continue to be encouraged by the positive nature of all celebrants after each win. Only a small handful of arrests and liquor pour-outs have occurred during post game celebrations throughout the Canucks playoff run.
“With the deciding game so close in hand, we continue to ask celebrants to enjoy the sites responsibly and come together as a community to celebrate as they have in the past, “ says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger. “Go Canucks Go!”
Surrey RCMP will have dozens of officers strategically placed at both locations proactively engaging fans who come out to celebrate and ensuring the safety of all pedestrians and the general public.
