Vancouver Police are issuing a public warning after a woman in her 70s was left emotionally traumatized following a brazen daytime home-invasion style robbery in the West Point Grey on July 6th.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the elderly woman was outside her home near Blanca and West 2nd when a man walked up to her and allegedly forced her inside at gunpoint and confined her to a chair. He then began rifling through the home in search of valuables. A short time later he left, taking a grey Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan belonging to the woman. Police are not releasing the license plate number at this time for investigative purposes.

The elderly woman was not physically injured and was able to make her way over to a neighbour’s house. Police were called and an extensive area search was completed with the help of a police canine unit however, the suspect and the car were not found.

The suspect is described as white, in his early 30s, approximately 5’9″ to 6′ tall with a medium build and a trimmed red fuzzy goatee. He was wearing a white t-shirt with purple writing on it, blue jeans, a black baseball cap and he was carrying a black cloth courier-style shoulder bag.
