Fake Canadian immigration officer charged with fraud

Since 2009, the Toronto Strategic Partnership* has been investigating allegations of a fraudulent immigration business.

It is alleged that:

– between February 11, 2009 and November 2010, the accused met the victims and made promises to obtain their legal Canadian immigration status,

– the accused represented himself as an Immigration Officer with Canada Border Services Agency and used the alias Al Guiliani.

– the accused obtained between $1,800 and $3,900 from each victim,

– the accused threatened the victims with deportation.

– the victims received no services for the money they paid. They lost all money they gave to the accused and were misled in their hopes to obtain legal immigration status.

On Monday, August 22, 2011, Albino Irgolino, 43, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with:

1) eight charges of Fraud Under
2) eight charges of Personating a Peace Officer.

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, room 501, at 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.
