National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has reported that USA has experienced extreme temperatures in the months of June, July and August. These extreme temperatures have set new national records across the United States of America. In fact, this time period has been deemed as the second-hottest summer faced by USA. The average temperatures are recorded at 74.5 degrees. The National Climatic Data Centre has also confirmed the abnormality of the weather.
Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Lousiana faced peak temperatures during the summers. The average summer temperature in Texas was 86.8 degrees and in Oklahoma, the average was 86.5 degrees. Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Illinois, Washington and Alabama experienced Augusts that have been recorded amongst their 10-driest on record.
High temperatures is not all that comes under the umbrella of extreme temperatures. The North East has experienced the worst rainfalls, leading to floods and displacement of the residents. Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have also contributed towards the destruction the weather has caused. New Jersey, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire had their wettest August on record.
