Gallup has conducted a poll in August with 1,008 adults with the question that “U.S is winning the war on terror or not”. According to the results, 46% Americans state that yes, U.S is winning while 42% maintain that neither the U.S nor its allies are succeeding in the war on terror.
Unfortunately, the results are similar to what the Americans said back in 2001 after the attacks: 42 percent of Americans said the U.S. and its allies were winning the war on terror, and 44 percent said neither side. On the other hand, 59% are of the opinion that despite the efforts of the U.S government, terrorists will always find a way to launch major attacks.
The results of this survey point out that the views of the American citizens today and ten years from now were, more or less, identical. However, in between this time frame there have been instances when the faith of the people increased regarding role of U.S and its allies in the war of terror.
Two-thirds of Americans said they felt the U.S. was winning in the years of 2002 and 2003. in 2007, only 29% of people believed that U.S was winning.
The sampling error margin for this poll is plus or minus 4% points.
