In a bizarre incident of sorts the van which was holding communications material for President Obama’s bus tour was stolen but later it was recovered and is now awaiting the arrival of president Obama.
The news of the stolen bus was conveyed by the spokesperson for the Defense Information Systems Agency through an email. Investigations are underway to find out as to how was behind the theft.
The spokesperson said “A government vehicle was stolen and has been recovered. No classified or sensitive information was in the vehicle. We take incidents such as this very seriously, and a formal investigation is continuing in coordination with relevant law enforcement agencies.”
According to reports emerging from difference corners, the truck was stolen from the Virginia Center Commons Courtyard Marriott near Richmond, where it was parked. The truck contained a teleprompter, $200,000 worth of audio equipment and the presidential seals that are placed on Obama’s podium.
The truck was recovered at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at a Holiday Inn Express near the Richmond airport. There has not been any statement on whether the items inside the bus were also recovered or not.
