‘Breach of security’ at Rob Ford’s Etobicoke home

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s office has reported an undetermined breach in security at the Mayor’s Etobicoke home. Hence, two police vehicles were seen parked near his house Wednesday afternoon and another at a park from where the house was clearly seen.

At first, reports said it was a break-and-enter. In the afternoon, all the police vehicles were driven away from the Mayor’s house.

According to Mr. Ford’s interim spokesman and brother, Councillor Doug Ford, the incident was a “breach in security”. He hesitated to give any additional details.

Last year, a number of issues surrounding Mr. Ford’s personal security arose with at least two confirmed death threats. The Mayor has hesitated at suggestions he should have a personal driver or security detail.

Later in the day, a young man in a red, two-door Chevrolet with license plate M D FORD stopped at the Mayor’s house, knocked and was allowed inside.

“I’m in no mood to talk,” he said, identifying himself as a relative of the mayor.

“I’m concerned with the kids,” neighbour Tony Roccia said, noting he first noticed police cars outside the mayor’s home around 9 a.m.

“[Mr. Ford] is a friend to us… He’s a good man,” neighbour Allan Becirovic added.
