Toronto man Alex Kusi facing multiple charges in fraud investigation

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

– in December 2011, a man attended the City of Toronto Employment and Social Services building at 1225 Kennedy Road

– the man used an alias to fraudulently apply for social services benefits

– the investigation revealed that the man had used several aliases between September 2011 and December 2011 to fraudulently apply for social services benefits

On Friday, January 20, 2012, police attended the City of Toronto Employment and Social Services building and arrested the man.

Alex Kusi, 28, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) 10 counts of Fraud (under)
2) four counts of Personation with intent
3) five counts of Identity fraud
4) six counts of Illegally possess government identity documents
5) three counts of False pretenses (under)
6) four counts of Uttering forged document
7) Possession of property obtained by crime (under)

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Monday, January 23, 2012, at 2 p.m.

It is further alleged that:

– during the offences, he used the aliases Ezeiel Akwasi Boateng, Ernest Brown, Mark Brown, Frank Asamoah, and Francis Baffour.

Police believe there may be other victims in addition to the City of Toronto.
