Shafia honour-killing trial has been delayed due to security reasons. On Thursday morning, a courtroom in Kingston, Ont. was evacuated after allegedly receiving bomb threats. Journalists and spectators were suddenly asked to leave the vicinity.

Shafia trial, underway since October 2011, is in its final stages. According to the police, there was a ‘security concern,’ but a number of people allege that a bomb threat led to the evacuation.

Mohammad Shafia, his wife Tooba Yahya, and their son Hamed, have each pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder. All three alleged killers were sent away from the court Thursday in a police prisoner vehicle.

The Shafia couple and son are charged with the murders of Shafia daughters Zainab, Sahar, and Geeti, in addition to Shafia’s first wife in his polygamous marriage. Shafia women were found dead inside a vehicle, which was submerged at the bottom of a canal near Kingston, in eastern Ontario.

The honour-killing trial has gained considerable attention from the public, and people waited in line for hours to be seated in courtroom. A number of people had to go back home Wednesday after the 150 seat room filled to capacity.

The trial has allegedly been delayed until 1 p.m. ET.
