Family Members of ‘Highway of Tears’ Case Prepare for RCMP News Release

A special investigation was initiated in 2006 to examine the case of 18 missing and murdered women in the northern and central region of the British Columbia over the coure of 20years. These crimes were conducted on the Highway 16, which is a connecting road between Prince Rupert and Prince George. Not surprisingly, it has been nicknamed as the “Highway of Tears.”

Madeline Lanaro, mother of a victim named Monica Jack who died in 1978 claimed that she is already aware of the police statement which is scheduled to be released today.  She added that she was updated of the situation by the RCMP last week. She was giving an interview on Monday when she stated that “he said that the announcement wouldn’t have anything to do about my daughter,” but “It was about another family.”

Sources have revealed that the news release feature investigators, a family member and an official from the United States. It is also rumored that the Police Department will most likely appeal to the general public to hand over any useful information regarding the case.

Niece of Sally Gibson, missing women since 1995, Lana Derrick has asserted that she was not updated by the police of the upcoming announced. She stated that she was very upset to learn about the upcoming announcement today, as she had to learn about it from a broadcasted media report. Shee claimed that “my heart was beating down by my toes at that part.” She alleged that the police department has not kept her updated about any progress in the case.
