The suspected killer and arsonist being held responsible for brutal public killings on the election night, Richard Henry Bain, is scheduled to return in court again on Monday following a recent the session on Friday. Currently, the court is still basically establishing whether Bain is mentally fit to stand for trial or not, the latest evaluation report submitted in court on Friday, was read understood by the judge, lawyers and Bain with translation in English.
Bain is indicted with 16 counts of different charges including first-degree, attempted murder, arson and weapons violations for the election night shooting at Metropolis in Montreal. During the arrest of Bain, he yelled at the crowd and authorities that Anglophones are rising up and made several other language-based calls to arms. That officially submitted report in court declares Bain to be generally fit for trial, but there is one doubt with the report, which Bain’s lawyer Elfriede Duclervil wants to clarify directly from the psychiatrist herself.
Consequently, the judge previously sent a subpoena ordering the psychiatrist to appear in court post-haste, but the doctor failed to attend the hearing due to an illness and is now expected to show up on Monday, i.e. when the next hearing is scheduled. The report further identifies that Bain was not fully co-operate with the psychiatrist, though it was already apparent in court. The report further points out that Bain willingly did not discuss certain topics, which was also his right, though it failed to clarify whether it was due to psychosis or stubbornness. The case will now resume on Monday.
