The Toronto Maple Leafs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday night as it will play its first game since April 7 of last year, which will also kick start their 2013 NHL season. Maple Leafs will be confronting in Montreal with the Canadiens, soon after the clocks show 7 p.m.

During an bumpy offseason, the team witnessed its General Manager, Brian Burke, being fired along with several new roster adjustments, hence the fans are left with completely diluted and mixed up expectations from the Leafs squad. The Leafs have never been in the playoffs since 2004, hence several experts have already suspected that this season to become another below-average season for the team. On the other hand, the newly entitled General Manager of the team, Dave Nonis, seemed very optimistic about his team as he highlighted several selling points of his team so far. Nonis mentioned that “we think the work ethic has been exceptional in the short camp, we’re going to have some new bodies in the lineup, we’re even a little bit younger, which is hard to believe given where we were last year.”

The roster, comprising of 23 players, have been finalized as youngster Morgan Rielly is sent down to the Western Hockey League and Matt Frattin is sent down to the AHL. Perhaps the only choice left is to choose between James Reimer and Ben Scrivens for the position of goalie in the upcoming game on Saturday night.  Head Coach Randy Carlyle has not yet made a public decision between the two.
