On Wednesday, February 27, 2013, police arrested a man and two women in connection with a ticket-selling investigation.
It is alleged that:
– a man produced fraudulent concert and hockey game tickets using a computer
– these tickets were then advertised in classified ads on websites such as Kijiji
– a false name, a phone number and an email address were provided
– victims contacted the man who made arrangements to meet near malls and other public areas to sell these fraudulent tickets for an agreed price
– the purchasers of these tickets met a woman posing as a family relative of the man
– she would sell the ticket(s) for the pre-arranged price
– the tickets were identified as fraudulent
Michael Heys-Walsh, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) four counts of Fraud under
2) four counts of Uttering forged document
3) Possession of proceeds of crime
4) Possession of controlled substance
Jessica Diamone, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) two counts of Fraud under
2) two counts of Uttering forged document
Krystal Lafontaine-Garcia, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Fraud under
2) Uttering forged document
3) Possession of proceeds of crime
Police believe there may be more victims.
Police advise the public to be cautious dealing with people they meet from online websites when buying or selling any items.
