The Environment Minister, Peter Kent, passed an unexpected message in a facebook post on Friday, expressing that he is honored to have served in cabinet, and in case he has to end doing so due to an expected upcoming cabinet shuffle, he’ll be OK with that. Kent alleged that regardless of his future in cabinet, he has already decided to run for re-election in 2015, pointing out that “political service does not begin or end in that revered body.”

In a statement posted at Kent’s Facebook page, he mentioned that “our Conservative caucus has an abundance of talented MPs and it is only appropriate that other, younger men and women should take a turn in cabinet. I will fully support the PM’s eventual decisions.” It was added that “If, in the fullness of time and the eventual shuffle, I do find myself a backbench Parliamentarian, I will enthusiastically embrace what will be, for me, exciting new challenges.” Having said that, Kent explained that him being shuffled out of cabinet is “still officially hypothetical,” while adding that such a development would allow him to “better devote” himself to his constituents in Toronto’s Thornhill riding.

Previously on Thursday, the leader of the Government in the Senate, Marjory LeBreton, announced to have resigned from her position, though she intends to stay sitting as a senator. At the same day, Conservative MP Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, also announced that they will not be running for re-election anymore.
