Homeless people in Abbotsford have decided to file a class action law suit against city officials, who confessed having used chicken manure to shoo away defenseless citizens last month. Pivot Legal Society lawyer, DJ Larkin, revealed that an estimate of 50 homeless residents convened last Tuesday and chose to take legal action against what they’re calling a “campaign of harassment” by the city and local police. She explained that “they’re galvanized and they’re unified and they’re angry.”

It is alleged that city workers dumped, and spread, chicken feces few centimetres deep in a plot near Abbotsford’s homeless to drive them way from town in June. Taking notice of the incident, Abbotsford Mayor, Bruce Banman, stated that “I would like to think that we can use this as a teaching moment on how to deal with people in a compassionate manner with dignity and respect.” It was explained that “this is now about moving forward and repairing the damage that’s been done.” Additionally, homeless residents claim that Abbotsford police officers bashed their tents and used pepper spray too.

In an official press release made by Larkin, she mentioned that “it’s hard to move forward with positive change when people are saying ‘not in my backyard.’” It was further added that “there is no time to wait, Abbotsford is in crisis and the only way forward is for this city to undergo a major attitude adjustment and start cooperating in some creative solutions to create a city that respects all of its members.”
