Police was called in to a beating incident where an 11-year-old boy was found in critical condition, while his mother and another woman were taken into custody at a west-end Toronto apartment. The 911 call was made by neighbours, who suspected hearing a fight, and called for emergency help at an apartment building on Eva Road, near Burnhamthorpe Road and The West Mall in the west-end neighourhood of Etobicoke, at around 1:15 a.m. ET on Friday.

Upon its arrival, eye witnesses claim that police smashed through the glass door at the building’s entrance to reach at the 12th-floor apartment, where it found the boy with cuts and bruises. The neighbour explained that her sister-in-law heard the disorder and called police, who were apparently already en route to the building. The women stated that “she heard someone screaming, someone hurting.” The boy was quickly shifted to an ambulance and taken to the Hospital for Sick Children, authorities of which claim he will need to undergo a surgery on Friday. Police expects one of the women to be released on Friday.

Neighbours report that the boy lived in the apartment along with his mother, an older sister and a younger brother, while confirming that two other children were also taken away from the apartment. It was revealed that one of the women arrested was behaving strangely at the time as “she was in the back of the cruiser and blowing kisses and smiling, like she was on drugs or something.”
