Vincent Tam of Aurora charged in various thefts in York Region

Members working out of the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 19-yearold Aurora man in connection with a string of thefts from vehicles in the Towns of Newmarket, Aurora and East Gwillimbury and recovered more than $10,000 in personal property

On Tuesday, July 20, 2010, members working out of the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted observations on a 2003 Jaguar in the parking lot of Silver City located at 18151 Yonge Street in the Town of Newmarket. The Jaguar was believed to have been stolen. At approximately 5:45 p.m., the suspect was arrested without incident as he returned to the vehicle.

On Wednesday, July 21, 2010, investigators executed a search warrant on the suspect’s personal vehicle where a large quantity of stolen property was found. The stolen property linked the suspect to a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred in early July. Investigators estimate more than $10,000 in recovered property was seized including GPS units, sunglasses and other personal items.

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x 10
• Possession of Stolen Credit Cards x 3
• Use Stolen Credit Card x 8
• Fraud Under $5,000 x 8
• Utter Forged Document

Mr. TAM has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear next before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Tuesday, August 24, 2010.
