Almost all Senate members have recently been caught fidgeting with an iPad during red chamber sessions since the past two weeks when the Senate was hearing its most crucial motion for suspension without pay of three members. The is all because the Senate recently purchased a substantial number of iPads for $34,535, over the past three years in a step to move towards saving use of paper. However, as expected, it still remains a stark mystery as to who received them and how much the Senate paid for each device is a mystery.

Perhaps, all senators and senate staff were eligible for the device as cameras have often caught staffs in the Senate’s administration with iPads, which are non-political. However, it seems like the only ones not receiving the iPads were political staffers, who can easily be debated as the ones actually help senators with their jobs. Political staffers are most commonly seen in the Red Chamber with maximum paper work; as they are often found reading much of the legislation coming through the chamber, prepare briefing material and providing support during committee meetings.

At its website state, the Senate has mentioned a total amount of the contracts, though it has refuses to release more details into the bulk purchases that took place in late 2011, i.e. a purchase from the Apple Store of $19,284.30, and later again in early 2013, when the upper chamber spent $15,268.72 at the Apple Store.
