Virginia State Senator, Creigh Deeds, suffered serious injuries this Tuesday at his home after being stabbed multiple times whereas his son took his last breath after experiencing a fatal gunshot, informed the Virginia state police. The assault took place at their house in Bath County, west to Charlottesville,  where the senators 24year old son, Gus Deeds, was found dead inside. Deeds, 55, was hospitalized in a critical condition after being severely stabbed in his head and upper torso. He was admitted at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

A state police spokeswoman informed that the Bath County sheriff and the state police arrived at the crime scene at 7:25 a.m. after the receiving the information of the assault through a phone call. Despite his serious injuries, the senator was able to talk to the police. Corinne Geller refused to give any more information about who shot Gus Deeds or any motives behind the crime. The police was not looking for anyone else who could have been part of the assault indicating that the dispute only included Creigh Deeds and his son.

‘We’re not looking for a third person,’ said Geller, ‘We’re five hours into the investigation. There’s still a lot more work to be done.’ Governor Bob Mcdonnell expressed the news as being ‘utterly heartbreaking’. ‘Creigh Deeds is an exceptional and committed public servant who has always done what he believes is best for Virginia and who gives his all to public service,’ said McDonnell in a statement.
