Foul play is not suspected in the death of a woman from the Tobique First Nation, whose body was discovered near a snowmobile trail in the community on New Year’s Day.

On January 1, 2014, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police received a call about a woman lying in the snow near the trail, off Main Street. The woman was deceased when police officers arrived. She has been identified as 29-year-old Jamie Wolfe.

Through talking with witnesses, the investigation has determined that the woman had been out drinking with friends on New Year’s Eve and was dropped off at herhome on Main Street at about 4 a.m. It’s believed that the woman then left her home on foot, walking alone in the direction of the trail. She was not properly dressed for winter weather. Her body was discovered about 150 meters from her home. It is believed she stumbled off the trail and succumbed to hypothermia, however, an autopsy will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of death.
