Investigators probing the cause of fire at an abandoned building in Charlottetown, which consumed three teens and gave life-threating injuries to a fourth on March 29, have classified it as undetermined. According to a press release issued by the Charlottetown police, the evidence indicates that there was an open fire in the former Sherwood Greens building when the victims went to sleep at night, but they were unable to identify any ignition source so they are categorizing it as undetermined.

Although Charlottetown police have summed up their investigation, fire officials are still keeping the file open. The fire cost at the abandoned building on Mount Edward Road cost lives of three teens, including Joey Reeves, Brandon MacKinnon and Kenneth Irving, while the fourth, Brandon Quinn, received serious injuries but managed to survive at a hospital in Halifax.

In addition to that, the press release also revealed a brief chronology of events about the activities of the teens on the night of the fire. The Charlottetown police elucidated that a friend drove the four teens from Montague to Charlottetown, out of which two were dropped off at the Charlottetown Mall and the rest in the downtown area. They socialized separately and later got together again before midnight and went to 207 Mount Edward Road. The teens used fire to keep them warm during the night. Charlottetown police and the fire department responded to the fire call at about 5:30 a.m.
