Extremely controversial Mayor of Canada’s largest city, Rob Ford, has alleged that he’s looking forward to attending his first city council meeting since he left his office two months ago. Mr. Ford is anticipated to attend a full-day city council meeting to appoint two new councillors after seats in Trinity-Spadina and Etobicoke-Lakeshore were vacated in May and June.

In his remarks on Sunday, Ford stated that “I can’t wait for council and to bring attention to the waste on the waterfront. We are spending a million dollars on rocks and umbrellas. And then the BMX track over at Centennial, we’re spending $4.5 million on that.” In addition to that, Mr. Ford added that “this is a complete waste of taxpayers’ money so I can’t wait for the council meeting to come up and stop the gravy train, because unfortunately, when I went away for two months, they got back on that gravy train pretty fast.” Mr. Ford left his office at city council on April 30, as he announced that he is going to seek professional help for alcohol abuse.

The issues highlighted by Mr. Ford on Sunday are going to be discussed on Tuesday and Wednesday, since the first day of council will be spent filling the two vacant seats. Former city councilor, Adam Vaughan, gave up his position as representative for Ward 20, Trinity-Spadina, and former councillor for Ward 5, Peter Milcyzn, vacated his seat after being elected as a Liberal MPP in Etobicoke-Lakeshore in June.
