Five gang members arrested for drug trafficking in Edmonton

As a result of a lengthy investigation that began in May 2010, officers in the EPS Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit charged five people with conspiracy to traffick in cocaine and committing an indictable offence for a criminal organization.

The investigation involved two individuals incarcerated in the Edmonton Maximum Security Institution, two who resided within the City of Edmonton, and one person residing in Ontario. The lengthy investigation revealed alleged intent by these five individuals to set up a new gang in Edmonton, focusing on cocaine trafficking.

Inspector Greg Preston says that "these arrests in all likelihood prevented a potentially dangerous gang from establishing in our city, thereby enhancing public safety.”

"The laying of a criminal organization charge evidences the seriousness by which the EPS takes gang involvement and our goal of having those persons involved in criminal organizations dealt with severely.”

Jointly charged with conspiracy to traffick in cocaine and committing an indictable offence for a criminal organization are: Mark Williams, 34; Jeremy Paul Krasny, 22; Anthony Chanda, 33, of Ontario; Susan Marie Krikorian, 22, of Edmonton; Randi Dawn Steinborn, 27, of Edmonton
