Tory MP for Mississauga-Brampton South, Eve Adams, has announced to remove herself from the Conservative nomination race for the new riding of Oakville North-Burlington due to health reasons. In a 742-word email addressed to supporters on Friday, Adams stated that “I continue to suffer from my concussion and the time has come to take my health seriously.”

Reports confirm that Adams once slipped outside an Ottawa deli due to a grade-2 concussion in late February. Adam’s decision has come after the Conservative Party (CPC) decided to postpone a contentious nomination vote in the new federal riding in May. Both main contenders for the riding, Adams and chiropractor Natalia Lishchyna, have accused each other of political impropriety. While announcing the postponement of nomination vote, CPC spokesperson Cory Hann stated that “to ensure a fair and open nomination process, the Conservative Party of Canada has determined the Oakville North-Burlington nomination meeting … must be postponed in order to fully review complaints received.”

Adams and her fiancé, Dimitri Soudas, were accused by Lishchyna of fraud for buying Conservative Party memberships for indifferent voters. Although the investigation by Conservatives is not officially concluded yet, sources suspect that Adams’ disqualification was evident. However, the letter authored by Adams clearly indicated that she still supports her claim that she and Soudas acted in the right. The letter said that “in a nomination where a small camp relied on mud slinging, we always remained positive and took the high road.”
