Toronto police have confirmed that the fine for a regular drivers would be up to $500, whereas commercial vehicle operators would be charged $1,000. Const. Clint Stibbe announced that there will be eight police officers and eight parking enforcement officers dedicated on the blitz team. Furthermore, it was clarified that through the mayor often spoke against illegally-parked commercial vehicles, they will not be the only intended targets. Stibbe elucidated that “it’s people that are stopping to let people off,  tolet’s say drop someone off at work,” adding that “or perhaps maybe jumping out to get a coffee.” He also added that pedestrians will also have to face a $50 fine if they are seen blocking roadways.

During his mayoral election campaign, Mr. Tory had vowed to reassign some parking enforcement officers to deal with the lanes most commonly blocked by commercial vehicles. He mentioned that “if I have to chip in and drive a tow truck myself” adding that “those vehicles are going to be towed away.” “I would even tow away a Brinks truck.”
