An independent candidate in rural British Columbia has uploaded an extremely unique campaign video that has caught attention of many. The candidate for the new riding of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, Wyatt Scott, appears to be riding a giant goose, slaying a dragon and shooting lasers from his eyes to vanquish a robot sporting what appears to be a Conservative logo.

In addition to that, the video also includes Scott’s voice-over saying that healthcare and social programs should be expanded, university is too expensive and that “indigenous people aren’t even protected by their own government.” Although Scott has not yet registered as a candidate, he looked for a student filmmaker on Craigslist and came up with a team that made him laugh and gave them a lot of artistic freedom.

In his remarks about the video, Scott stated that “humour is a big part of my life” and “I told them, ‘I want to push the envelope. I don’t want to go too far, but I want to push the envelope.’ And that’s what we came up with.” The video has already achieved some popularity online and some consider it to have gone viral already. The video was viewed more than 30,000 times in less than 24 hours. Scott claims that the video is aimed at a younger demographic and everyone who worked on it was hoping it would go viral. He alleged that “it’s trendy, it’s hip, but it’s also truthful. And I think people see that there’s also honesty to it. It’s real.”
