Six arrested for gold heists in Mississauga

Officers from 11 Division’s Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested five men and a 17 year-old young offender, in relation to residential break and enters.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2011, March 1, 2011, and March 2, 2011, a rash of residential break and enters took place in Mississauga. Total losses from these break and enters are at estimated to be $25,000.00. Some of the property has been recovered.

During these break and enters, the suspects would knock on the victim residence’s front door and, after no one answered the door, kick in the front door. Once inside, the suspects would take jewelry and electronic equipment.

The investigation, conducted by officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, identified six suspects as being involved in these break and enters.

On Friday, November 26, 2010, the following individuals were arrested and charged in relation to this matter:

Dumark Lindsay, a 28 year-old resident of Mississauga, has been charged with Break Enter and Theft.

Harun MURAD, a 27 year-old resident of Mississauga, has been charged with Break Enter and Theft and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest.

Jamaul THOMAS, an 18 year-old resident of Toronto, has been charged Break Enter and Theft.

Jermaine CHAMBERS, a 20 year-old resident of Mississauga, has been charged with Break Enter and Theft and Breach of Probation.

Annif FRECKLETON a 19 year-old resident of Mississauga, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

A 17 year-old young offender has also been arrested and charged in relation to these break and enters.

Investigators believe that the increasing price of gold has made this type of crime more attractive to the criminal element. As a result, the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau has dedicated a specialized unit to deal with this problem, as well as monitoring known offenders.
