Oshawa PowerThe Oshawa Power look to rebound from a disappointing week that saw them lose 3 of 4 games to sit with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses on the season. Their lone win came in a thriller at home over the London Lightning that needed overtime to decide the outcome.

In their last game against the Lightning, a road contest at the John Labatt Centre, the Power was overwhelmed from the tip off as the home squad came out aggressive and dictated the tempo. Three key players, Morgan Lewis, Brandon Robinson and Kevin Francis also got in foul trouble early, amassing two fouls each in the first quarter. The second quarter was no better for the Power as DeAnthony Bowden controlled things from the Lightning perspective, notching a game-high 29 points, including seven threes. The second quarter also saw Lewis get knocked out of the game after taking a hard fall battling for an offensive rebound. He was taken to a London hospital but is feeling a lot better this week. One positive, the team battled back from a huge deficit though to make it interesting late. Brandon Robinson led the team with 21 points while Akeem Wright and Omari Johnson(3-4 from 3 point land) pitched in 17 each.

Two games are on the sked this weekend as the Power take on teams that they have not played this season. On Friday the Summerside Storm blows into the General Motors Centre looking to improve on their 4-3 record. They are coming off a tough 108-89 loss to the Quebec Kebs. The Storm are led by Mike Williams and Julian Allen, who both pour in 18 points per game, good for fourth and fifth in the league scoring race. The Power will want to contain these scoring machines once the teams hit the hardwood on Friday.

Sunday will see the Power take on one of the founding teams of the NBL Canada, the Halifax Rainmen. After a slow start that saw them come out the gate losing their first two games, the Rainmen have won their last three games to improve to 3-2 on the season. In their last game, they rained down a ton of buckets against the Saint John Mill Rats in a 122-104 victory. Canadian Joey Haywood dropped 26 points while Taliek Brown added 18 points and 11 assists to help the cause. So the Power will want to keep a close eye on both of them right from the start.

Brandon Robinson leads the Power in scoring and steals at 16.29 ppg and 2.29 spg respectively. While Akeem Wright is the rebounding leader at 7.57 rpg Tut Ruach is good for 6.57 dimes per game so far this season. Should be a great weekend for NBL Canada basketball at the GM Centre!
