Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the hockey club has assigned forward Matt Frattin and defenceman Korbinian Holzer to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
Frattin, 24, has appeared in 37 regular season games for the Maple Leafs this season, collecting five goals, five assists, 10 points, two penalty minutes and a plus-two (+2) rating. The 6-0, 200-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta registered his first career NHL point, an assist, October 24 at Philadelphia and scored his first NHL goal November 19 versus Washington (Tomas Vokoun). He was assigned to the Marlies on November 1 and played three games, registering three points (two goals, one assist) and 13 shots on goal before being recalled November 8.
Holzer, who was most recently recalled by the Leafs on January 3, has not played a game in the NHL this season. In 29 games with the Marlies in 2011-12, he has collected one goal and six assists along with 29 minutes in penalties. The Munich, Germany native played two games for the Leafs last season.
The Toronto Marlies return to action Friday night at 7 p.m. when they host the Oklahoma City Barons at Ricoh Coliseum.
