Milos RaonicWorld No. 2 Roger Federer of Switzerland defeated Milos Raonic (Thornhill, ON) 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2 on Monday to advance to his 35th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final at the Australian Open in Melbourne, Australia.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion was at the top of his game from the outset, giving Raonic very few opportunities to impose himself. Raonic advanced to the fourth round at the Australian Open for the second time in three years. His next event will be Canada’s Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie against Spain in Vancouver beginning February 1.

In doubles, Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) and Mahesh Bhupathi of India were eliminated in the third round on Monday by Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini. The Italian pair posted a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory.
