In a previous event incurred by a Metro Vancouver Transit Police officer, he mistakenly forget to take out an unarmed explosive from an airplane of Air Canada after a routine training exercise last year. Now a recent document confirms that even after an overly widespread investigation is complete, it has not been successful to find out the missing training sample of explosives.

The alleged document was released by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, which claims that a police dog handler made this rookie mistake during a training exercise on an aircraft stationed at the Vancouver International Airport in January 2011. An all-embracing approach was applied during the investigation, which after all eventually resulted in concluding that the package was most likely found by the airplane cleaners and dumped along with the regular garbage, ending up being incinerated. The official report of Transit Police asserts that “we have been advised that the plane was thoroughly searched 14 times following this incident and as such we have every confidence the substance is no longer on the plane.” Additionally, the report alleged that Transit Police has already executed new protocol for preventing any similar incidents in the future.

Whereas on the other hand, the B.C. director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Jordan Bateman, does not tends to overlook the event so easily. Bateman stated that “while it’s likely this explosive went into the trash, it could conceivably have ended up in someone’s hands. The Transit Police do not know with 100 per cent certainty where their explosive ended up.” He added that “any time a police explosive is outside the custody and sight of officers, it should be a concern to the public.”
