Bollywood and Beyond continues at the ROM with a series of events surrounding the exhibition Bollywood Cinema Showcards: Indian Film Art from the 1950s to the 1980s:

Fresh Perspectives: Tours of Bollywood Cinema Showcards
Walk through this cultural timeline as guest curators from Toronto and abroad lead exhibition tours from a personal viewpoint.

Film Screening – Shot in Bombay
Thursday, September 22nd; 7:00- 9:00pm

A fast-paced, often surreal documentary film exploring the thin lines that separate crime from punishment and fiction from reality in and around the Bombay film industry.

Workshop: Photo-Collage: Bollywood Style
Saturday, September 24th; 1:30-4:30pm
Learn about the art of photo-collage and painting techniques used to make original showcards, and design your very own poster inspired by Indian cinema.
Ages 12-16. Enrollment is limited.
Materials will be supplied.

Film Screening – The Sound of Mumbai: A Musical
Tuesday, September 27th- 7:00-9:00pm
Dir. Sarah McCarthy, India/ United Kingdom, 2010, 65 minutes.
For one emotional night, a group of children living in a slum in Mumbai, India get the chance to experience a different world, as they perform The Sound of Music with a classical orchestra,. This isa story of fostering hope that could change their lives.
Followed by a Q&A with a Human Rights Watch Children’s Rights researcher.
