Toronto’s esteemed Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art and Design celebrates its first year students with a show and open house event at the new Danforth location!

The exhibit is from April 30 to May 3, 2015, and the open house event is Saturday, May 2 (detailed schedule below).

A shared passion and in-depth training draws first rate Canadian and international artists, students and instructors to Max the Mutt; many graduates have gone on to careers at top companies including Corus Entertainment, Arc Entertainment, Toon Box, National Film Board of Canada, Sony, Nelvana, UbiSoft, Warner Bros. Games and Pixar.

Max the Mutt is based on three programs of study; Classical and Computer Animation and Production diploma, Concept Art for Animation and Video Games diploma (only program of its kind in Canada) and Illustration for Sequential Arts: Comic Books and Graphic Novels diploma (only program of its kind in Canada).

SCHEDULE, FIRST YEAR SHOW AND OPEN HOUSE:

Wednesday, April 29 – first year show begins (private viewing for students and parents only).

Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3 – first year show open to the public, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The main reception is on the second floor.

Saturday, May 2 – a special open house event, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; features first year students show, an information session, school tour and a free workshop;

11:00 a.m. – Information Session; presentation about the school’s philosophy, the curriculum for the three diploma programs, workshops and skills development programs.

12:00 p.m. – Tour of the school.

1:00 p.m. – Free workshop; ‘How to Draw Animals, An Introduction’ with director of animation Tina Seemann.

Sunday, May 3, the school open to the public, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – first year students show.

Founder/director Maxine Schacker states, “We look forward to celebrating the wonderful achievements of our first year students with them, their families and visitors from our new community on the Danforth in Toronto!”

Maxine Schacker: Founder and director of Max the Mutt. An artist who studied with world-renowned artist/curator Robert Beverly Hale. She taught painting, life drawing and anatomy for illustration and animation programs at Sheridan College and Centennial College.

Tina Seemann: Director of the Animation diploma program. A cartoonist and character designer, whose work appeared on many TVO programs. She designed the ‘Max the Mutt’ logo and taught animation at Sheridan College and Centennial College.
