The Supershow is in town and motorcycles are everywhere

Jan. 6, 2011 - The doors to seven halls at the International Centre in Mississauga swung open to the public at 10am this morning signalling the start of the 36th annual North American International Motorcycle Supershow. The show is set to run January 6th, 7th, and 8th and is considered the place to be for any two wheel enthusiast within a 500km radius.
The Motorcycle Supershow occupies over 425,000 square feet, with over 500 exhibits, with representation from 80 rider clubs and associations. There’s a custom built bike competition featuring some of the finest builders from across the country vying for a $50,000 jackpot.
Many of the major motorcycle manufacturers have exhibits showing off their 2012 models, with Kawasaki opting to make the North American debut of their adventure tourer the Versys 1000 at the show.

In addition to a sea of custom and brand new bikes the Motorcycle Supershow is known for being the largest Canadian vendor show of the year. For show goers this means that there’s a near endless supply of motorcycle parts, clothing, and all manner of riding accessories. The show also plays host to over 500 used bikes from Ontario motorcycle dealers.
Those at the International Centre over the weekend will also be treated to performances by a number of bands who’ll be playing live at the show. The show also features a number of seminars, fashion shows, and forums allowing for attendee dialogue.
By 11:30 this morning, the parking lot surrounding the International Centre was packed. Impressive considering it’s a working day Friday and the lot is capable of holding a few thousand cars. There were of course the brave folks who rode their bikes in the middle of winter, but almost as surprising were the New York and Michigan licence plates I spotted in the parking lot. Turns out this is a truly cross border event!
Supershow attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable footwear as there’ll be a lot of ground to cover. Leave your jackets in the car, or check them in at coat check it’s warm inside the halls. Bring cash for food and drink, there’s a wide selection from roast chicken dinners to pizza.
