Program/Project: Ontario Early Years Centre Don Valley West Riding

Position Title: Lead Program Facilitator

Department: Child and Family Services

Location and Hours of Work: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, occasional weekends and overtime.

Position Type: Full time

Expected Start date: April 6 2009

Salary: $22 per hour

Details of probation: 3 months probation

Program/Project Description

An Ontario Early Years Centre is a place for children up to the age of six and their parents and caregivers to take part in programs and activities together. Parents and caregivers can also get information about their children’s development and about services to support that development.
TNO Ontario Early Years Centre offers the services listed below. The programs and services are free to all parents and caregivers of young children.
• Early learning and literacy programs for parents and children.
• Programs to help parents and caregivers in all aspects of early child development.
• Programs on pregnancy and parenting.
• Links to other early years programs in the community.
• Outreach activities so all parents can get involved with their local Ontario Early Years Centre and other TNO services
Position Summary
Reports to the Child and Family Services Manager. The Lead Program Facilitator develops, supervises and is responsible for the day to day operation of the OEYC programs. The Lead Program Worker is also responsible for scheduling, monitoring supplies and resources.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIE

• Implements and supervises appropriate programs for client groups
• Evaluate effectiveness the program and make necessary changes
• Collaborate and communicate with OEYC satellites in Don Valley West Riding
• Provides day to day functional supervision to the OEYC staff and the program
• Make monthly schedule for staff’s shifts, prepares reports
• Acts as a resource for clients, staff and students

Qualifications Required:

Education: The minimum level of education preferred is a Community College Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.

-Experience:
Three to five years of experience preferred in child develompment and family settings; assessment and communication skills to provide services for children with special needs; instruction and supervision of staff and students/volunteers.

Other Requirements:
A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required when necessary for the position. Valid CPR /First Aid.
