The Supreme Court accepted the appeal filed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) to challenge the decision of dropping charges against President Zuma on Tuesday.

The decision of dropping charges against Jacob Zuma was taken in 2009 by Mokotedi Mpshe who was the director of public prosecutions for the country during that time and suggested that all charges must be cleared out before he became the President.

Alongside filing an appeal for the review of the case in the Supreme Court, DA also filed for the records and documentation to be once again brought to the court which led to the decision of dropping charges. The records are currently lying with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA). The court also ordered the clerk to get in touch with the national director of prosecution and produce all the relevant documents to the case at the earliest.

The court further ordered the clerk to ensure that the documents brought to the court and handed over to DA for review should not include any statements given by and on behalf of Zuma and any other confidential report or document which clashes with the code of confidentiality.

The judge also clarified that the request put forward by DA does not include any accusations on the decision of Mr. Mpshe but seeks grounds for reviewing the case.
