This morning at about 10:00am, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau investigators arrested a second teacher, Suspect Martin Bernard Springer, who works at Miramonte school in South Los Angeles.

As a result of recent requests from the Sheriff’s Department for members of the public to contact us with any information regarding possible criminal activity at Miramonte school, we received new information yesterday (Wednesday) morning. That information led investigators to 49-year old Suspect Martin Springer, a resident of Alhambra.

Since Wednesday morning, Sheriff’s investigators interviewed several people, including Suspect Springer. Meanwhile, Suspect Springer was suspended and removed from the classroom by Los Angeles Unified School District officials. Suspect Springer has been under surveillance by Sheriff’s detectives since yesterday.

As a result of the ongoing investigation by Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau detectives, Suspect Springer was arrested this morning for Lewd Acts Upon a Child and booked at the Inmate Reception Center of the Los Angeles County jail. His bail is set at $2 million.

He was arrested by detectives existing a school building at 107th Street and Western in South Los Angeles.

The allegations involve two girls who were allegedly fondled in the classroom at Miramonte school by Suspect Springer. They were approximately 7-years old at the time of the incidents, which were alleged to have occurred during the past three years. The investigation is continuing.

This case will be presented to the Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney for consideration for filing of felony charges of Lewd Acts Upon a Child, by Tuesday morning.

Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau investigators are seeking the help of the public to identify possible additional victims during the suspect’s tenure at Miramonte Elementary School. A booking photo will be provided to the news media as soon as it is available.
