Ottawa man Taimoor Najam charged for sexually assaulting a woman on commercial bus

The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section charged an Ottawa man following a sexual assault on a commercial bus. 

On Monday, March 24, 2013, at approximately 8:30 pm, a female passenger travelling from Toronto to Ottawa via a commercial bus had fallen asleep and when awakened realized that she was being sexually assaulted by a male seated next to her. Shortly after arrival at the bus station, the suspect was taken into custody by security and held until police arrived. 

Patrol officers responded to the bus station and took custody of the suspect. 

On March 25, 2013, the Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Section charged Taimoor Najam, 20 years of age, of Ottawa, with one count of sexual assault. He was released on a promise to appear. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 13, 2013.
