Toronto mother faces three charges for exposing youth to life-threatening injuries

On Friday, August 30, 2013, at approximately 1:15 a.m., police were called to the Eva Road/The West Mall area for an unknown trouble call.

It is reported that:

– due to the exigent circumstances, officers had to break and breach the apartment’s lobby doors to gain access

– once inside the apartment unit, police found an 11-year-old boy with obvious injuries to the head

The boy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The boy’s mother, 32, has been arrested.

She is charged with:

1) Attempt murder
2) Aggravated assault
3) Fail to provide the necessaries of life

She is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 9 a.m., at Old City Hall courts.

For the protection of the boy’s identity, her name will not be released.

The investigation is ongoing.
